We are excited that you will be joining our department as a new UIC graduate student, and we look forward to meeting you at the MSCS Fall 2021 Orientation!
Orientation is an important step in becoming acclimated to our city, the University, and the Department. It is a chance to address your specific needs as a new graduate student and to provide you with the support and resources to ease your transition into our graduate community.
During orientation you will have a session with faculty mentors where you will receive course advising, review the degree requirements and program policies and discuss any questions you may have.
For travel and planning purposes, please note that the MSCS Department Orientation begins at 9:00 AM on Friday, August 13 and activities will run through the following week, ending on Friday, August 20, 2021.
International Students: Next Steps
The UIC New International Student Orientation activities will consist of both in-person and virtual events and run begin from Friday, August 13 to August 20, 2021.
- Visit the Office of International Services Orientation website for further details: OIS website.
- The Introduction to OIS & Immigration Matters session will be offered on Monday, August 16 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. This session will be virtual and all new international students should plan to participate live online.
- Within your first few days of arrival to the US, you must complete an Immigration Check-in at the at the Office of International Services: OIS International Requirements. The check-in process is conducted virtually and no in-person visit to OIS is required.
- Schedule your English Proficiency Testing at the International Teaching Assistant Program Office as soon as possible. Interviews will be held on Zoom, starting on May 10: English Oral Proficiency Testing.
