There are two programs leading to a Master of Science in Teaching (MST) Secondary School Mathematics degree.
The purpose of the MST option for certified secondary teachers is to strengthen the preparation of mathematics teachers in secondary schools. This program is designed to provide courses in mathematics education that enhance the qualification of experienced teachers.
The purpose of the MST option for students seeking teaching certification is to prepare students to successfully teach mathematics at the secondary level. This program is designed so that students, in particular those switching careers, can both obtain the MST degree and fulfill the requirements for Illinois secondary school teaching certification.
