MS degree in Mathematics, MS degree in Statistics programs annual application deadlines:

Prospective students requesting application fee waivers must a) complete their applications and b) contact Professor James Freitag at jfreitag@uic.edu with a request by December 15, 2024.

No. To ensure fairness any application-related documents are reviewed by our admissions committee only after the application deadline.

The GRE General and Subject Exams are not required. You may still submit GRE scores however; an absence of GRE scores will not negatively impact your application.

Please note that UIC’s minimum English proficiency requirement score is lower than the required score for Teaching Assistants. These requirements cannot be waived.

UIC Required English Competency score for Teaching Assistants is 100 on the Internet-based test (ibT), minimum ibT Speaking subscore of 23; or IELTS Band score of 7 with a Speaking subscore of 7.

English proficiency requirements based on the country or territory in which you studied can be found on the Admissions International Requirements page.
English proficiency test scores and assessments are considered valid for two years following the test date and must be valid at the time of application.

English Proficiency Test Exemptions:

Applicants with previous enrollment at a US institution for at least two years of full-time study or one year of full-time employment are exempt from this requirement. All international students hired as teaching assistants will have their English proficiency tested during orientation week.
