Orientation
We are excited that you will be joining our department as a new UIC graduate student, and we look forward to meeting you at the MSCS Fall 2025 Orientation!
Orientation is an important step in becoming acclimated to our city, the University, and the Department. It is a chance to address your specific needs as a new graduate student and to provide you with the support and resources to ease your transition into our graduate student community.
For travel and planning purposes, please note that the MSCS Department Orientation begins at 9:00 AM on Friday, August 15th and activities will run through the week, ending on Friday, August 22nd, 2025.
International Students: UIC Office of International Services Orientation
The UIC New International Student Orientation activities begin on Friday August 15th and run through Friday, August 22nd, with a mandatory International Student Summit on Thursday, August 21st, 2025.
- Immigration steps and resources can be found on the Arriving to the US page.
- Within your first few days of arrival to the US, you must complete an Immigration Check-in at the at the Office of International Services.
- Schedule your Oral Certification Interview at the International Teaching Assistant Program Office as soon as possible. Interviews will be held on Zoom and can be scheduled here: English Oral Proficiency Testing.
