Graduate College Student Presenter Awards Heading link
The Graduate College offers Student Travel Awards to deserving students to defray expenses associated with travel to present original research or scholarly work at a meeting or conference. Qualifying presentations must be at a meeting or conference of a nationally or internationally recognized scientific or scholarly society, and applicants must be presenting the research themselves. Awards may be used for transportation, hotel, meals, and/or registration expenses.
Award Amount: Up to $150
Student Submission Deadline: as soon as possible after the completion of the event.
MSCS Graduate Student Travel Grant Heading link
The MSCS Department offers funds for student travel. Funds may be used for transportation, hotel, meals, and/or registration expenses. Please submit the completed Travel Request Form to dgs-mscs@uic.edu.
Award Amount: As long as funds are available, graduate students can receive up to $450 within the fiscal year (July 1 to June 30).
Reimbursement must be requested within 60 days of the traveler’s return. To request reimbursement, submit the DSG-approved Travel Request Form along with receipts to Lee Jackson (ljack1@uic.edu), Assistant to the Director of MSCS Business Affairs.
Student Submission Deadline: at least two weeks before travel.
UIC Graduate Student Council Travel & Conference Awards Heading link
UIC’s Graduate Student Council Travel Award is available to students attending or actively participating in academic or professional meetings. To eligible applicants, the GSC gives awards of up to $500, which may be used to cover funding including transportation, lodging, registration fees, and meal costs. This does not include conferences taking place in the city of Chicago.
Applicants must be:
- presenting his/her own original work at a recognized meeting or conference, or
- chairing a session at a recognized meeting or conference, or
- leading a discussion at a recognized meeting or conference.
UIC Graduate Student Council Conference Award
GSC’s new Conference Award was initiated to help graduate students pay for attending professional conferences. To eligible applicants, the GSC gives awards of up to $250.
Applicants may only receive one Conference Award per year and should be:
- enrolled for the term for which the student is applying for a Travel Award.
- enrolled in a graduate program with a currently active GSC departmental representative.
- Applicants must be (any one of the following):
- attending a recognized meeting or conference.
- presenting his/her own original work at a recognized meeting or conference.
- chairing a session at a recognized meeting or conference.
- leading a discussion at a recognized meeting or conference.
AMS Graduate Student Travel Grants Heading link
Meetings are an important part of any young mathematical scientist’s professional development. Listening to talks, meeting active researchers, connecting with old friends, learning about professional issues and resources, and making new professional connections are building blocks of the early career. AMS Graduate Student Travel Grants provide partial support for the Joint Mathematics Meetings and AMS Sectional Meetings.
