ALEKS FAQ

Preparing for my Math Placement Heading link

Students can access the test by going to my.UIC and following the ALEKS link in UIC Connect.

The test is 25 to 30 questions and takes between 1.5 and 2 hours to complete.

The ALEKS Placement will be free of charge and any student interested in a retake will have free access to the required learning modules and up to a total of four retakes. Five hours of work on a learning module are required before each retake and 72 hours must pass before having access to each retake.

ALEKS scores will be immediately available within ALEKS, and the corresponding math placements will be available within 72 hours on my.UIC where students initially accessed the test.

Any student with a score of 59% or less is encouraged to attend the Summer College Mathematics Workshops or take advantage of the learning modules and retakes offered free of charge. Optional retakes of the online assessment are available in ALEKS through 5 pm on Friday of the first week of each term. Students are not eligible in retaking the exam once they earn credit in a mathematics course at UIC.
