Analysis and Partial Differential Equations

Analysis is the study of sequences and functions and their main mathematical properties such as convergence, continuity, and integrability.  These concepts underpin the theory of calculus with numerous applications in engineering and the natural sciences.  An important field within analysis is the study of partial differential equations (PDE), which are equations for functions of several variables and their respective derivatives.  The research group in MSCS is particularly interested in PDE arising from fluid dynamics or quantum mechanics, as well as in harmonic analysis and integrable systems.  Connections to probability theory and computational mathematics are also explored.
