Director of Advising, Outreach, and Math Placement

The Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science (MSCS) at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Director of Advising, Outreach, and Math Placement. This is a full-time Academic Professional Position. This position is responsible for:

Duties: Advises all MSCS majors, oversees all outreach in MSCS, supervises all aspects of math placement for incoming students, liaison to student support groups and other on campus and off campus units, processes various MSCS student forms, oversees the Emerging Scholars Program, oversee UIC Global for MSCS courses, assists supervision of summer college workshops, and oversees availability, planning, and evaluation for MSCS courses

Qualifications: A Masters Degree or PhD in Education, Communications, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Sociology, Business Administration, or related field required. A minimum of two years advising experience required. Possess professional and administrative knowledge of academic advising through the application of related procedures, principles, theories and concepts. Ability to develop financially sound business plans, establish budgets and manage financial assets and resources within budget parameters. Strong communications skills (listening, verbal, written). Demonstrated analytical & research skills. Ability to work cooperatively with others in the accomplishment of joint tasks and common objectives. Flexibility/adaptability/managing multiple priorities. Computer and technical literacy proficiency. Proven interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence.
