About
I earned my Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Michigan in 2010 under the direction of Karen Smith. After that, I was awarded an NSF Postdoctoral Fellowship, and held postdoctoral positions at the University of Utah and Princeton University. I have been at UIC since 2013, where my research has been supported in part by grants from the NSF and the Sloan Foundation, and I was promoted to full professor in 2020. In addition to my research, I am a dedicated undergraduate and graduate instructor, and have supervised several graduate students who have gone on to successful careers in academia and industry. I have also played an active role in departmental leadership, having served as Associate Head of Instruction, Associate Head of Operations, and on various committees at UIC.
Research Interests
Algebraic Geometry and Commutative Algebra. I specialize in the study of singularities and invariants in commutative algebra, particularly in positive and mixed characteristic, as well as birational algebraic geometry.
