Prof. Coskun gives LAS Distinguished Professor Lecture

Prof. Izzet Coskun have his LAS Distinguished Professor Lecture titled "Break and Count: The Art of Specialization" in which he discussed his work in algebraic geometry as well as his numerous mentors and mentees.

Professor Coskun has received numerous awards including an NSF CAREER grant and an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Fellowship. At UIC, he has received a Researcher of the Year Award, a Graduate College Mentoring Award, and a University Scholarship. He is a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society.

Professor Coskun is a dedicated mentor to young mathematicians. He has advised or is advising over 20 PhD students and has mentored 13 postdoctoral researchers. He is the Principal Investigator on a National Science Foundation Research Training Group grant for training students and postdoctoral researchers in algebraic geometry and related areas at UIC.
