DESCRIPTION:Greg Taylor\, UIC: Singularities and Blowups          In algebraic geometry\, singular spaces arise naturally. In this talk\, we introduce the notion of a singularity\, focusing on concrete examples of curves in the plane. We will also explore the blowup map which resolves singularities in these cases.
